It is 7:20am and I can't believe that 1 week ago I was getting set in the delivery room and beginning to push! Brigham continues to make steady progress and amaze everyone. Sorry I haven't done daily updates but going back and forth between home and the hospital has been emotionally, mentally and physically exhausting for both Ross & I. Anyway, here is the blow by blow...
On Thurs. Feb. 7 Brigham weighed 3 lbs 11.1oz. He bumped up to 18ml and then to 21 ml at each feeding. He was back under the bili lights. They wanted him under 12 for that day (it changes as he gets older) and he was 11.5 They started the lights as a preventative measure to keep the level from going up. Unfortunately the bili lights meant no Kangaroo Care.
On Fri. Feb 8 he weighed 3 lbs 11.2oz. He bumped to 24ml at feedings and then to 27. He spit up at his 3:00 feeding so they will continue to watch for that and might go back to 24ml. The bili lights were off again. He was and continues to be a little anemic (the nurse says that is common in newborns - even full term) so they did a head sonogram to make sure there is no bleeding in his head. That came out clear - THANK GOD!!! They will continue to monitor this and might do the head sonogram each Monday to keep monitoring for this. He is doing so well with taking nutrition orally or through his g tube that they discontinued the IV nutrients. We are excited about this as it is one less support for him meaning he is getting stronger. We had lots of visitors - The psych department and one of the social workers from my work came to see him. By the end of the day it seemed that everything was catching up with him (more food to digest, working to take more food orally, visitors, etc) and he was exhausted. The nurse told us that it is not uncommon for this to happen at some point and little ones may sleep for several days using all their energy just digesting and growing.
No update for today yet. We slept in this morning as it seems today might be another busy day with visitors. Please keep your prayers going. I know they are working as he continues to make progress. We feel very blessed that he is doing so well and that we are able to hold him, feed him, and change him ourselves. I will keep things updated here.

P.S. I added a couple new pictures. He was chewing on dad's pinky yesterday. Gives some perspective to his size.
