Day 9

Brigham is still plugging along. We are so happy with how he is doing. Today he is up to 3lbs 13.1 oz. They are decreasing the temp in his isolette - this is a good thing. It means that he is doing better at keeping his temp up on his own. They will keep decreasing it until it is room temperature and he can maintain on his own. Yesterday morning they found that he has thrush (mouth infection) which they say is not at all uncommon for infants especially those who were on 7 days of antibiotics like he was. They did a regimen of preventative antibiotics since we have no idea why he was so early. Anyway, they are giving him medicine for the thrush and his little tongue already looks better. He has been pretty worn out the past couple of days which they say is to be expected as he works to grow and gain more independance from their support. Tomorrow the OT is going to show us how to swaddle bathe him which she says is very relaxing for the babies. She was kind enough to schedule a time late in the day so Ross could be here (He went back to work this morning.)

Thanks again for everyone's prayers and support. We truely feel blessed to have Brigham and all of you in our lives.

Kristin
